Neon for Spring

A few weeks back, during a catch-up with one of my chicest friends who lives in LA, she asked me “So how fun is neon for spring?”

I have to admit, I was out of the loop at first and asked her what she meant. To which she replied that neon is all the rage this season and I better get on board.

Since then, neon seems to be everywhere I look. From the toes of other ladies at the salon this past weekend, to boards all over Pinterest, fashion week runways and the window at the Gap, Liz was right, neon is all the rage this season and I’m dying to get on board.

Here are few pops of color I’d love to work into my wardrobe/everyday world. How fun is it? Have you jumped on the neon bandwagon yet?

It may still be winter here... But spring has sprung in the new Anthro catalog

I am really, really digging the color combos in Anthro's February catalog. It was waiting for me when I got home last night and after flipping through I have to say I want just about every item in there.

There's something I love about bright colors paired with contrasting neutrals. These clothes feel easy and energetic without being too over-the-top, not too mention extremely versatile.

And don't you just love the movement of this shoot? Where are all these ladies going? Somewhere fab I'm sure.

Monday Crush List xo

On Friday we left work in the midst of a heavily falling snow. It was the perfect way to start a weekend that was mostly spent holed up in the apartment catching up on Downton Abbey (my newest obsession), trying out my new food processor (must-try hummus recipe below) and starting to dig out warm weather clothes from their hiding places. Brazil is only about two weeks away and at this point it still feels like a dream.

Thought I’d start the week out with a crush list. Happy Monday.

Love for Layering

The art of layering is one I’ve been trying to master for years now. I feel like it takes practice.

How did these girls know that fur looks good on fur and that lace could be worn with sweats and that leather could be mixed with denim and more denim and plaid and chiffon?

When winter finally settles in Chicago it always takes me a few weeks to really fall back into the habit of layering.

I’ve been needing some layering inspiration so when I stumbled upon This Is Not New’s most recent collection of women’s style images (all pictured below) I couldn’t have been happier.

I think I’m going to play copycat with some of these this weekend…

Black on black on black on black

Every time I go to NYC I feel the urge to invest in a classic black piece that will aid me in outfits to come. No city does the all-black look better than New York.

From head to toe, layered in soft pieces of differing textures, I see black on black year round in New York, no matter what the season.

How fab are all these looks?

Behold the perfect party dress...

Like every girl, I’ve always loved Anthropologie, and their dress selection usually has everything I could ever want.

But when they opened BHLDN they took it to a whole new level when it comes to the perfect dress for every occasion.  I can’t get over the tiny details, the tiers of fabric, the simple, elegant color palette…

With the holidays approaching the need for a great party dress rises exponentially and I love the idea of dresses inspired by my favorite desserts. Buttercream lace, chocolate silk, ribbons of swirly icing…

Which is your favorite?

A pop is better... Animal Print

In the 7th grade my grandmother gave me a pair of leopard print pants for my birthday.

My father was not amused. He wouldn't let me out of the house in them and I was devastated.

Whatever his reasons for not letting me be seen in the pants, it was probably for the best. In hindsight a full pant in the print really is a bit much for real-life wear.

A more subtle pop of animal, however, is completely acceptable and I'm loving all of these looks below, especially for fall.
